A pair of key hires at venture-backed defense tech outfits feature and one of them most recently spent nearly three decades at a blue chip hardware giant.

Aquia

Heather Caudle has joined the cloud computing, cybersecurity and digital services provider as senior vice president of growth and strategy following a decade in other industry roles.

Caudle will lead Aquia’s functions in business development, capture and key partnerships as the company pushes to scale its presence across the market.

She most recently worked as vice president of federal business development at Oddball. Prior to that, she spent eight years at Valiant Solutions.

Capital Group

Shayna Taitt-Thompson has joined the professional services provider as chief growth officer after 17 years at Guidehouse and its former parent PwC.

She most recently was a director in Guidehouse’s national security practice. At PwC, she worked as a manager in the public sector practice that spun out in 2018 to become Guidehouse.

She announced her new role in a LinkedIn post.

Comcast

Sachin Patel has joined the mass media and telecommunications conglomerate as vice president of its government services unit, which is a part of the Comcast Business segment.

The two-decade federal telecom veteran will lead Comcast Business’ efforts to expand its presence across the landscape.

Patel previously spent the entirety of his career at AT&T, where his most recent role was leader of the federal technology office.

Cydecor

Justin Miller has joined the technology and professional services provider as chief growth officer, a role he brings two decades of market experience to.

Cydecor has tasked Miller with leading efforts to drive organic growth through its functions in business development, capture and proposal.

He most recently worked as chief operating officer at Metronome. His career also includes roles at IC-1 Solutions and ManTech.

InDev

Sean Gilman has joined the automation technology provider as vice president of homeland security programs, a role he brings two decades of experience to.

Gilman now leads a portfolio that includes agencies such as Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Transportation Security Administration.

He most recently worked as a vice president at Unissant and before that worked in roles at Brillient, Unisys and ECS.

ITC Federal

Mike Hall has joined the IT and professional services provider as vice president of proposals, a role he brings 25 years of experience to.

Hall most recently worked as vice president of growth at Oxford Government Consulting, where he led efforts to identify new market opportunities and carry out growth plans.

His career also includes roles at Edgewater Federal Solutions, IntePros Federal and BAE Systems Inc.

Maximus

Elizabeth Moellering is now general counsel and corporate secretary on a full-time basis at the government services company, which she first joined in 2024 as head of litigation.

Moellering was working as general counsel on an interim basis following the departure of John Martinez, who joined Parsons Corp. in February as chief legal officer.

Moellering’s 18-year private and public sector career includes a stint at Optum and service as a federal prosecutor focused on white-collar and child victim cases.

Red 6

Scott Lucas has joined the venture-backed augmented reality technology company as president, a role he brings nearly a decade of experience to.

Lucas will work with Red 6’s founder and CEO Daniel Robinson on growth and other initiatives aimed at further scaling the company, Robinson wrote in a LinkedIn post. A former Army intelligence officer, Lucas was most recently a vice president at CAE USA.

Red 6’s last disclosed capital raise was its $70 million Series B round from 2023, which included the venture arms of Lockheed Martin and AE Industrial Partners.

Shield AI

Richard Sullivan has joined the autonomous systems maker, a description covering both software and hardware, as vice president of mission solutions after 26 years at Northrop Grumman.

Sullivan wrote in a LinkedIn post that he joined Shield AI to “help expand mission solutions that matter, accelerate adoption with our customers, and contribute to shaping the future of intelligent, autonomous systems in national security for the U.S. and our allies.”

In March, Shield AI disclosed its $1.5 billion Series G capital raise and acquisition of Aechelon Technology that was completed with that new investment.

Tetra Tech

Richard Schult has moved up to president of Amyx, a subsidiary of the engineering and professional services firm that focuses on application modernization and cyber work for federal agencies.

Schult joined Amyx in 2024 as chief operating officer and succeeds William Schaefer, who previously was president dating back to 2020. Prior to Amyx, Schult was a senior vice president at QinetiQ US.

Tetra Tech acquired Amyx in 2023 to continue building out the federal technology services practice.
